Tonight’s second A Novel Idea parent book group meeting was an absolute joy. Lively, thoughtful, and full of those moments where conversation zigzags in unexpected directions like a good plot twist. We had a fabulous discussion diving into Gone by Michael Grant. Big ideas, bold opinions, and plenty of “wait, but what about…” moments filled the room. Exactly how a book group should feel. Thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening such a success.

Happy Earth Day! In essence, all libraries are recycling centres as we borrow and return books! This year the theme is "Our Power, Our Planet" and we will focus on a school community-led action for sustainability.⠀ ⠀ Our #BOTW both have an Earth Day feel to them:⠀ ⠀ 📘KS3: The Summer We Turned Green by William Sutcliffe is a fresh, funny heartfelt comedic book about the unlikeliest of eco-warriors in a must win battle: one earth, one chance!⠀ ⠀ 📗KS4: Diary of A Young Naturalist by @dara_mcanulty is a profoundly moving exploration of the natural world through the eyes of a neurodiverse teenager coping with change while pursuing life as a conservationist and environmental activist.⠀ ⠀ #CBSLibrary
The #CBSLibrary has been working together with KS3 Science Club to review and decide our winner of the Royal Society Young People's Book Prize. The sessions were chaired by two of our Year 8 STEM enthusiasts. Great excitement and reading were evident and lively discussions as to our ultimate winner were deliberated. As our event took place in the library, other students also got involved so we had representation from each year group, including @coombesixthform ! The shortlist this year was phenomenal and all books were loved.⠀ ⠀ Our winner is The Animal Body Book by @_jess_french.⠀ Thank you to the @theroyalsociety for this wonderful opportunity.⠀ ⠀ #CBSScienceClub #CBSScienceTeam⠀ ⠀
